Personality of a Bengal

A Bengal is intelligent, active and curious. They're usually a joy to live with but need plenty of stimulation and activity. Bengals enjoy climbing and, unlike many cats, often love playing in water. They are independent, communicative and personable, but appreciate attention from their close family. Bengals often get along well with other animals, like dogs. The Bengal's leopard-like coat, build and muscles give it a wild cat appearance. Their coat is short, velvety and easy to care for. You'll need to brush their coat weekly to keep it looking its best. Bengals often enjoy being brushed and the attention it brings.

Health problems in a Bengal

The Bengal is a generally healthy cat breed. However, some inherited conditions can occur, such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). PRA is an inherited eye condition where the retina gradually deteriorates, and HCM causes changes to the cat's heart muscle.
