Insurance: What applies when travelling abroad with a dog?
Swedish Insurance:
The insurance is valid in the Nordic countries. It also applies to temporary stays of a maximum of one year throughout the world, where the animal may be brought back and forth without being quarantined according to the Swedish Board of Agriculture's regulations. For longer stays abroad (more than three months), Lassie must be informed in advance and agree to this. See further information in our terms and conditions or in our app!
German Insurance:
Surgery and Health Insurance
The insurance cover applies in the Federal Republic of Germany. In the case of temporary stays abroad, insurance cover is provided worldwide for up to 12 months, calculated from the day your pet leaves Germany.
In the case of treatment abroad, reimbursement is limited to the scale of fees for veterinary surgeons (GOT) applicable in Germany as amended. If costs are incurred in a foreign currency, these will be converted into euros at the exchange rate of the day we receive the receipts. Costs for any translations of foreign receipts must be borne by you and will be deducted from your insurance benefits.
You can find further information on the conditions of our pet surgery and health insurance in our general terms and conditions of insurance but also in the Lassie app.
Dog liability insurance
If you are travelling with your pet in Europe - no matter how long - or are staying outside Europe temporarily (up to 5 years), you are covered for any damage that occurs there. This does not apply in the case of a settlement of the risk of loss of receivables (see A3-4).
The insurance also covers damage for which you are liable according to the German Social Code (§ 110 SGB VII).
Lassie always pays in euros. If the money has to be sent abroad (outside the European Monetary Union), the payment is deemed to have been made as soon as the euro amount has been transferred to a bank in the European Monetary Union.
In addition to the geographical continent, the Canary Islands, the Azores and Madeira are also included in the European area of validity.
