Ear Hair in Dogs
Some dog breeds grow a lot of fur in their ear canals. This can be a risk factor for ear problems. In some breeds, ear hair can easily clump together, reducing ventilation and increasing humidity. This creates an environment where ear infections can develop.
Many breeds can suffer from ear hair issues, but the Lagotto, Poodle, and Miniature Schnauzer are particularly prone to it. If your dog has excessive ear hair, it's a good idea to learn how to remove it through trimming or plucking.
If you're unsure how to proceed, seek help from a groomer or vet initially, or ask your dog's breeder for advice. Remember, over-plucking can cause irritation, so moderate removal is best. If there's no need, it's always better to leave it untouched!
If your dog frequently experiences ear problems alongside excessive ear hair, keeping their ear canal clean and tidy is especially important.
