Caring for your Cavapoo's coat
Cavapoos can have different coat types, from curly like a Poodle's to straight and soft like a Cavalier's. They’ll need a trim a couple of times a year – how often depends on your preferred length and what your dog is most comfortable with!
Trimming your Cavapoo's claws
Keeping your Cavapoo's claws in good condition is essential! Trim them as needed, but aim for roughly once a month – it’s better to trim a little often than a lot rarely. Get your dog used to claw clipping from a young age. In the Lassie app, you’ll find our top tips on how to do it!
Weight management
Cavapoos often love their food, so they can easily gain weight and become overweight. Regularly check your dog’s body condition to ensure they’re at a healthy weight. You can learn more about this in the Weight Management course in our app..
Eye care
While generally a healthy breed, Cavapoos can be prone to eye problems. Learn more about eye care in our app course.
Dental health
Looking after your dog’s dental health is important, especially for your Cavapoo. Regular tooth brushing is key to good oral hygiene. Getting your dog comfortable with brushing takes practice and patience.
Socialisation
Socialising your dog is crucial. Start early with environmental training, letting your dog experience the sounds and places they’ll encounter as an adult. Find out more about socialisation and environmental training in the Lassie app.
If you have a friendly dog like a Cavapoo, who often loves meeting both people and other dogs, it's important to teach them how to greet appropriately.
